Good Infinite Video Games on PC

INTRODUCTION

• This list is my backlog. I curate it, so I recommend these games. But this is not “best of” list.
• What are infinite games ? I define infinite games as hightly replayable games, sometimes without strictly defined campaign beginning and campaign end, sometimes with procedural generation. The common trait is the experience is less directed by human author. This is not real infinity, because you can still experience all of what the game has to offer fairly quickly.
• What is the value of infinite games ? Movies are very directed experiences. If you miss 15 minutes of an excellent movie, the whole experience will suffer. Many games are like that. Infinite games are the opposite. If you miss some content, it is not a big deal. This makes them great for when you are tired from a day of hard cognitive work and you do not have the energy for a complex crpg or imsim.
• I love sci fi, technological horror, body horror, so these are the dominant aesthetics in the list
• No multiplayer only
• Games marked with // are commented, this means I know less about them or less interested in them, so I am less inclined to recommend them
